Our Story The mission was started over 30 years, it was to create a barley product that would help promote heart health and offset the symptoms of diabetes. Our staff of plant breeders and cereal chemist put their heads together and determined a product high in beta-glucan soluble fiber was the solution (beta-glucan is proven to reduce cholesterol, support healthy blood sugar and promote healthy blood pressure). Intense research, testing and natural scientific selection resulted in a group of barley products that achieve a superior nutritional profile, including high concentrations of beta-glucan.
About BGLife™ Barley BGLife Barley products are made from barley products that are naturally selected for a superior nutritional profile and high beta-glucan concentration. BGLife provides food ingredient applications in the form of whole berries, whole flakes, quick flakes, instant flakes, steel cut grits and flour. Additionally, BGLife produces a new consumer product, Heart Balance Cereal, 100% whole grain barley with superior beta-glucan content. Phoenix Agri Research (PAR) sells BGLife and other products developed by WestBred, LLC.
